Conclusions Comparison of the antenna characteristics at 8.2-mm wavelength given in the table with measurements obtained with a single-reflector system [6] shows that the multireflector system has reduced the noise temperature of the antenna, has reduced the width of the radiation pattern, and has enabled us to obtain the optimum effective area. These improvements and the use of the maser amplifier have resulted in an increase in the sensitivity of the radiotelescope at 8.2 mm by a factor of more than 10. At 3.36-cm wavelength the sensitivity was increased by a factor of about 3. |
