1.The process of obtaining mono-, di-, and triisopropyltoluenes by alkylating toluene with propylene in the presence of synthetic aluminosilicates has been investigated.2.A study has been made of the effects of temperature, pressure, feedstock space velocity, and toluene: propylene ratio on the yield and isomer composition of the isopropyltoluenes. It has been established that, with a temperature of 170°C, gage pressure of 5 kg/cm2, feedstock space velocity of 0.5 h-1, and equimolar ratio of toluene: propylene, the principal products are o- and p-isopropyltoluene.3.The feasilibity of separation a mixture of o- and p-isopropyltoluenes from m-isopropyltoluene by close fractionation has been demonstrated. |
