1.The condensation of cyclopentanol with m- and p- cresols in the presence of cation exchange resin KU-2 was studied.2.It was found that cation exchanger KU-2 is an effective catalyst for the reaction of m- and p-cresols with cyclopentanol. The yields of the correspondingly substituted phenols were from 70 to 83% of the theoretical.3.The qualitative and quantitative composition of the products from the reaction of m- and p-cresols with cyclopentanol was studied by physicochemical methods, alkali extraction, thin layer, and gas-liquid chromatography. |
