A method has been proposed for purifying industrial fractions of synthetic fatty acids by means of their stepwise neutralization in selective solvent medium. Upon stepwise neutralization of the acid with 4% alkali solution in acetone-benzene medium (1:1), acids are obtained in which there are essentially no esters, unsaponifiables, or dicarboxylic acids. The yield of purified acids is 90–95% of the wt. of starting acids. |
