1.The thickening power of hydrated calcium soaps increases with an increasing degree of unsaturation of mixtures of synthetic fatty acids and oleic acid. At the same time, for the solidols prepared from such soaps, the apparent viscosity increases, the shear and tensile yield values increase, and the colloidal stability is improved, as well as the viscositytemperature and viscosity-shear characteristics. As the degree of unsaturation of the fatty base is increased, lesser amounts of the base can be used to obtain solidols with given values of yield, viscosity, and colloidal stability.2.To obtain a high-quality synthetic solidol that does not differ in structure or properties from fatty solidol, using relatively small amounts of fats, it is necessary to use a mixture of unsaturated acids (60–75%) and SFA's (25–40%). In such a mixture, the unsaturated acids will increase the thickening power of the soap, and the saturated acids will compensate for the deficient thermal and chemical stability of the soaps. When the content of unsaturated acids in the SFA mixture is increased above 75%, the thermal and chemical stability of the solidols becomes poorer. |
