The degradation of citrinin by Penicillium citrinum in the presence of varying concentrations of glucose has been examined. Turnover of citrinin was found to be fast even in the presence of high concentrations of glucose. On the basis of these experiments, a role for citrinin in primary metabolism is postulated. |
