Dependence of chemical shift δ31P in phosphorus compounds on hybridization of bonding atoms of its alkyl substituents

Abstrakt: A structural interpretation is proposed for effects observed in31P and13C NMR spectra from methyl replacement of hydrogen atoms in the ß and ?-positions relative to the indicator center. It has been shown that the downfield ß-effect may be due to an increase in the s-character of the a-carbon atom in connection with the hydrogen atom under consideration, while the upfield ?-effect may be due to an increase in the s-character.
