Abstrakt: An electrochemical version of a thin film contactor, based on a vertical rotating disc electrode, is described and applied to a two-phase electrolysis, aromatic substitution using phase transfer catalysis to supply the nucleophile. A simple model is used to develop a theoretical description of the cell and the resulting equations have been tested using the acetoxylation of 1,4-dimethoxybenzene as the anode reaction.
