Abstrakt: The effects of transcranial electrical stimulation of opioid brain structures on regeneration of the rat sciatic nerve after transection and microsurgical suturing of the nerve were investigated. Electrical stimulation was found to accelerate regeneration of motor and sensory fibers of the sciatic nerve. The subject of the involvement of endogenous opioid peptides in regeneration of the peripheral nerves is discussed.
