Abstrakt: Before computers, astronomical data were transmitted orally, then in manuscripts and finally in printed almanacs. The structure of the data was determined by the needs of users and by the nature of the medium of transmission. As computers have evolved in the past two decades we have learned to utilize them in the transmission process. A new series of electronic almanacs produced by the Nautical Almanac Office provides data to high precision and exploits computers as the medium of transmission.
