Crystal and molecular structure of 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-phthalimido-4-thiomethyl-4-phenylmethyl-2-azetidinone benzene solvate, C26H22N2O4S+1/2C6H6

Abstrakt: The crystal structure of benzene solvated 1-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-phthalimido-4-thiomethyl-4-phenylmethyl-2-azetidinone (3) has been investigated by X-ray diffractometric methods. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic system:P¯1,Z=2,a=9.068(1),b=11.669(1),c=13.866(1) Å,a=114.447(7),ß=106.777(6), ?=90.790(7)°. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by full matrix, least-squares toR=0.046 (unit weights). The solid state structure was compared with that found from nmr studies in solution.
