Abstrakt: The peneconcordant Pb-Zn mineralisations of Largentiére mine are related to 5 horizons of a continental detritic formation (Buntsandstein) lying on an Hercynian basement (Massif-Central). At a regional scale, heavy metals are ordered along an edge which marks the border of a penesalin basin, but worked ore bodies are strictly controled by local paleotopography determined by sedimentological features of argilaceous interbeds. Detailed observations indicate that a metal deposition did occur immediately after the underlying sediments. The whole of the observations and elementary interpretations are logically interpreted as the result of heavy metals fixation along an interface between continental and sulphatic and reducing water related to the basin. This paleohydrogeological scheme allows us to select basal criteria of that type of deposits.
