To determine the fetal heart rate response to sound stimuation, we used a bone-conductor vibrator in direct contact with the uterus. This method implies a short pathway between the sound source and the fetal ear and makes it possible to apply a controlled sound stimulus to the fetus. The heart rate response is found to depend on the intensity of the sound and on the prestimulation heart rate. |
