Abstrakt: This article deals with the problems connected with introduction of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) at faculties of law in Poland. The first part contains some general remarks regarding teaching of law in Poland in the period 1990-2002. The increasing number of students as a result of new modes of financing law faculties is stressed as a most important element. The second part deals with more detailed problems which occurred in the process of introduction of ECTS in faculties of law, namely the necessity of co-ordination of this process at national level through the establishment of a list of a minimum number of obligatory subjects to achieve an appropriate teaching standard. Differences of the programs in particular faculties within the ECTS are also described. Analysis of data connected with teaching programs and existing regulations leads to the conclusion that introduction of ECTS at faculties of law only in very few cases did not fully realise the ideas of ECTS with regard to program flexibility and the individualisation of the teaching process.
