Elastic and dilatometric properties of incommensurate K2ZnCl4

Abstrakt: The temperature dependence of velocities of ultrasonic waves, propagating along c direction in K2ZnCl4, was measured by the impulse-echo-overlap method. The velocity v44 shows a positive step at the lock-in transition, which is similar to the behaviour found for the isomorphous Rb2ZnCl4. The thermal expansion was measured in c direction with a laser dilatometer.
