Abstrakt: Heterocyclic thiols (thiones) are conveniently synthesized in good yields by the reaction of heterocyclic halides with sodium thiosulfate. The reaction requires the presence of acid, either added or liberated during the reaction, to hydrolyze the intermediate thiosulfate to thiol.
