The influence of feedback on the competition between the processes of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) and stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) has been studied experimentally. The unidirectional regimes of SRS and SBS generation under conditions of feedback creation at the frequency of SRS radiation according to the ring scheme and, in the case of SBS also to the 'half-resonator' scheme, have been investigated. A study of the energy characteristics has revealed a significant enhancement of the scattering process which the selective feedback was intended to promote and simultaneous suppression of the other competing process. Analysis of the statistical and temporal characteristics of converted light pulses confirms a higher degree of stimulated scattering development in the presence of feedback. The absence of the influence of selective ring feedback on the SBS-conversion has been observed. |
