Abstrakt: The radicals P, PH2 and PH4, stabilized in various matrices such as Xe, neopentane and some other organic compounds, were investigated by E.S.R. at the temperatures between 4·2 and 100 K. These radicals were produced by (1) γ-irradiation of PH3 in the matrices at 77 K, and (2) the reaction of PH3 with H formed by the photolysis of HI in a Xe matrix. The E.S.R. spectrum of PH4 in Xe at 4·2 K exhibited anisotropic features. The magnetic parameters for these radicals were derived by numerical deconvolution. The reaction between PH3 and H was found to be important in the formation of the radicals from the results of the photolysis of (PH3 + HI) in Xe.
