The determination of the interstitial or vacancy nature of small perfect dislocation loops (image diameter between 100 Å and 500 Å) by transmission electron microscopy is facilitated by the realization of 'safe' foil orientations (Maher and Eyre 1971). The present communication reexamines the origin of these orientations in the light of recent comments made by van der Walt (1971). |
