The properties of chalcogenide glasses depend on both chemical composition and molecular structure. The method of controlling the properties of chalcogenide glasses by changing their molecular structure is considered. The effect of both the chemical composition and the nature of the chemical bonding on the efficiency of structural modification is analysed and a quantitative criterion for the 'structural modification efficiency' in various chalcogenide glasses is established. It is shown that this criterion determines statistical variations of the threshold voltage of switches. An effect of structural defects on the value of the criterion is also considered. |
