Some exact results for the dimer problem on plane lattices with non-standard boundaries

Abstrakt: In the present paper exact results for the asymptotic molecular freedom W= limN→∞ ZN2/N of six square and hexagonal plane lattices of non-standard boundary shapes are reported. Avoiding toroidal closing leads either to vanishing molecular freedom (W= 1) or to yet unknown values W = 3/4√3 in the hexagonal and W= √2 in the square case. Finally a simple sequence of square lattices is presented showing no well defined asymptotic behaviour at all.
