X-ray diffraction data have been obtained for 12 vasodilators in current use by the powder diffractometer technique. They include isoxsuprine HCl, perhexiline maleate, xanthinol nicotinate, suloctidil, pentoxyfylline, prenylamine lactate, nylidrin HCl (buphenine HCl), nifedipine, nicametate citrate, hexobendine, cyclandelate, and bamethan sulfate. The results, obtained by using the McCreery and Byström−Asklund methods of sample loading, were averaged and tabulated in terms of the lattice spacings and the relative line intensities. The method is valuable in the identification and characterization of pharmaceutical compounds from the possible polymorphic behavior of the same drug substances. |
