Abstrakt: The article discusses the need for drug providers and pharmacists to educate and administer accurate prescriptions for patients suffering from nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF). It notes that patients with NVAF are five times more likely to increase their risk for stroke and are candidates for prescription to newer anticoagulant drugs like dabigatran and apixaban. It recommends optimizing the efficacy of new anticoagulant drugs by monitoring a patient's diet and medication interactions.
