Abstrakt:	The article focuses the decision of Guatemala's Court of Constitutionality in a case that involved conviction of Guatemala president Efrain Ríos Montt on genocide claims by a domestic court based on charges of massacring members of the indigenous Ixil group. It discusses the juridical and human rights implications of the Court's decision, and a brief history of the internal armed conflict that involved killing and rape cases of Guatemalans during 1960-1996.
