The article reports thatU.S. trade agencies are working on first steps to bolster Iraq's economy.and to support U.S. exports there. Once sanctions against Iraq are lifted and barriers to financing are removed according to Commerce Secretary Lane Evans(Commerce Secretary Evans) told the Senate Banking Committee.Ex-Im Bank President Philip Merrill told the committee about considering mechanisms that would allow the Ex-Im Bank to support U.S. exports to Iraq including taking the credit risk of companies and banks in third countries. Trade agency officials testified before the Senate panel update it on the administration's national export strategy. |
