Abstrakt: The article reports on a four-month intervention designed to teach students how to engage with text and create literary interpretations and its effects on a sixth-grade class. Topics discussed include the impact of the use of written and spoken language on students' literary understanding, ways to teach students to talk well and to build a talking community, and effect of test-knowledge-building principles on deepening the reading skills of adolescent students.
