The article examines a gift of Native American art that was donated to San Francisco's Fine Arts Museums in San Francisco, California, by the art collector Thomas Weisel. Particular focus is given to how Weisel's collection of Native American art was influenced by his interest in contemporary American painting. The exhibition "Lines on the Horizon: Native American Art from the Weisel Family Collection" at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, California, from May 3rd through January 4, 2015 is also noted. |
