The article examines the quality and performance of genomic DNA (gDNA) derived from archival serum and its usefulness for single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) genotyping. Topics discussed include the health-related disparities in the lifespan between African-American ancestral groups and the European ancestral groups in the U.S. and the importance of having access to large libraries of human biological samples to increase knowledge of genetic underpinnings of multifactorial disease. |
