The article reports on three related Lion Conservation Workshops in Benin, Cameroon and Senegal that aimed to address the issue of extinction of lions (Panthera leo) in the region of West Africa. Topics discussed include the funds from the National Geographic Big Cat Initiative to develop National Conservation Action Plans for lions, the three main Lion Conservation Units harboured by the three countries in West Africa, and the national lion conservation strategies developed for each country. |
