Abstrakt: The article discusses the role of booster William Hope Harvey in developing the reputation of Ogden, Utah, focusing on his role in promoting Odgen's 1890 Mardi Gras festival called the Rocky Mountain Carnival. Other topics include the effects of conflicts between Mormons and other Utah settlers on the Carnival planning, promotion and critique of the Carnival in Utah newspapers, and events during the Carnival including horsemanship exhibitions, a bicycle race, and Native American performances.
