Abstrakt: | The article focuses on surgical techniques with improved outcomes for giant retinal tears (GRTs). Topics discussed include conflicting reports on the benefit of adding an encircling scleral buckle (SB) to vitrectomy for GRT-rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD), the preference for small-gauge vitrectomy for GRT-RRD repair, cautery in marking the breaks from amputated retinal blood vessels, and the integration of perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) in the repair of GRT-associated RRDs. |
