Abstrakt:	The article discusses the public parkland planning and design guide released by Western Australian government aimed at assessing open space network for recreational and social needs of communities. It notes that the guide considers challenges and opportunities and offers good practice planning and design principles parkland development including community benefits, landscape features and sustainable water use. The guide will become a reference point for planners, developers and designers.
