Abstrakt:	The article reports on the challenges faced by the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources' Office of Conservation and Coastal Lands (OCCL). It notes that the office is recommending the approval of major rock revetments along Maui shorelines from the Board of Land and Natural Resources. The Land Board has moved to protect the shorelines despite its long-standing policy against shoreline hardening.
