Average soybean yield has increased over recent decades in many areas of the world, but a plateau seems to have been reached in some situations, Brazil being a typical case. This article summarizes the main reasons why this has happened in the world's second largest soybean producing country, and what farmers need to overcome to break the current barrier. Also, a few lessons on general common practices contributing to high yields in the U.S. are outlined. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
