An essay is presented which explores the politics of LGBT representation at entertainment award shows. Topics discussed include the implications of recognizing LGBT content and artists, the association of Hollywood's limited liberalism to the prevalence of LGBT awards, and the cultural messages of award shows, including the Oscars and the Emmys. Also provided are observations on the different roles of gay characters and actors in films and televisions and how they were valuated in the industry. |
