The article discusses how disability studies on George Austen, the disabled older brother of English author Jane Austen, alter the biographical response of Austen readership and scholarship. Topics addressed include understanding Austen's life and works by referencing the lives of the rest of her family, the approach to disability in England's Georgian era, and the removal of George Austen to spend his life with the Cullum family. Also mentioned are other disabled members of the Austen family. |
