The article presents a study which aims to determine the role of endogenous Schwann cells in tissue repair and axonal regeneration after spinal cord injury. It states that following spinal cord injury, Schwann cells moved into the lesion site the nerve roots for the construction of a newly formed tissue and axonal myelination. It also mentions that Schwann cells can be stimulated to migrate to spinal cord through transplantation of various cell types. |
