The article discusses the results of a survey on Q fever agent Coxiella burnetti in ticks infesting companion dogs in Japan. For this survey, 261 ticks were collected and their species were identified morphologically. Results of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were negative, and this suggests a low risk of C. burnetti infection via the collected ticks and their hosts. |
