The article discusses the results of a study that examined the glucoconjugate distribution in the gastric mucosa epithelium of Lagenorhynchus obliquidens, a Pacific white-sided dolphin, using lectins. Topics discussed include the lectins tested, the reactions of surface portion of the pits in the pyloric chamber and the neck portion with lectins and the similar histological features and mucuous glycoconjugate content of the stomachs of cetaceans and terrestrial mammals. |
