Native Indian civilization had successfully utilized indigenous medicinal decoctions made from herbs for treating common ailments which dates back to 1500 BC. As herbal medicines are absorbed through the skin to deliver the desired physiological effect, clothing could be impregnated with these naturally occurring ayurvedic plant based remedies for treating hypertension and arthritis. An attempt was made to impregnate the active ingredients present in the herbal extract from Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna) to cotton fabric to be used by patients with known history. A detailed study on physical, chemical, antibacterial and anti-allergy have been undertaken to establish the efficacy of the herbal extract on the blood pressure and significant findings have been recorded. This establishes the use of non-toxic herbal medicines on wellness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
