Abstrakt:	This article provides a literary criticism for works by American poet and author Forrest Gander. The author discusses such works as "Deeds of Utmost Kindness" and "Sumo" and comments on the influence of Japanese culture and civilization on his writings. A translation of Gander's poem "Sumo" is also presented.
