The article discusses the correction of friction and inertia problems in a late 1980 model Schafer & Sons grand piano with the use of fine tuning tools, ITF-Dip Calculator and WeightBench. It explains how to assess the inertia, remove the touchweight assist magnets and springs including a procedure for defrictioning the wippen flanges. It offers information on the importance of key weight return in determining the target touchweight. |
