The article discusses a comparative expression study of the Oct-4 gene in 8-16 cell stage of parthenogenetic and in vitro fertilization (IVF) derived embryos in goats. It notes that the failure of parthenogenetic embryo to come to full term and its development of phenotypic abnormalities are yet to be explained. Findings show a higher relative expression of Oct-4 gene in IVF derived 8-16 cell of embryo than parthenogenetic 8-16 embryos. The study recommends the control of Oct-4 gene population. |
