This article discusses the role of kites in scientific experiments and research, particularly from the 18th to the 19th centuries following American scientist and politician Benjamin Franklin's experiment involving a kite and lightning. The author describes the work of Swiss-Russian mathematician Johann Albert Euler regarding the physics and mechanics of the flight of kites. He also considers the use of the kite as an example in popular science publications and school textbooks during this time period. |
