The article discusses the story behind the name Great Purple Hairstreak which has no recognizable purple color but has a bright blue upperside and underside. It is said that a breed of cat, known to hunt butterflies, swallowed a caterpillar and did not purr for weeks and the cat's owner sold the same type of caterpillar as a purr pill, to prevent cats from making noises. A butterfly emerged from the cat's mouth with a hairball, hence the name Great Purr Pill Hairstreak. |
