The article focuses on the Japanese tea room at the City University of Hong Kong that officially opened on March 11, 2013. The article discusses the tea room as a "Chashitsu," the organization associated with the tea room, the Chado Urasenke Tankokai Hong Kong Association (CUTHKA) and the traditional Japanese architectural techniques used to create the room. The article goes on to discuss the tea room as a sign of friendship between Hong Kong and Japan, a place to learn about Chado and the number of skilled craftsmen who made the construction possible including carpenters, tatami mat makers and scroll and sliding door mounters. |
