Abstrakt: The article discusses a study which used random amplified polymorphic deoxyribonucleic acid assay to characterize leptospiral isolates recovered from humans and animals in Andhra Pradesh, India based on DNA finger prints generated by a set of primers B11 and B12. Results showed that RAPD profiles of the leptospiral isolates have similar binding pattern with Liptospira (L) autumnalis, L. hardjo and L. Pomona. Some of the isolates' lack of correlation with the reference strains used are cited.
