The article discusses the findings of the field trials conducted on wired pipe using logging-while-drilling (LWD) tools and measurement-while-drilling (MWD) functionality by oil and gas company British Petroleum (BP) in 2007. It presents information on the basic working of wired pipes and discusses its various applications including real-time imaging, locating downhole events, and along-string measurements. Also discussed are the operational issues while deploying and running wired pipes. |
