The author reflects on his attempt in 1978 to climb to the top of Ben Nevis the highest hill in Great Britain within a day and his interest in hillwalking at Glen Shiel (GS). He discusses the five-hour extension of his trek and how the 20,600-feet climb became a challenge to fell runners in the succeeding years. He describes the route to GS that is dotted with Munros and Corbetts that give better views of the surrounding hills. |
