Abstrakt: The article discusses a study which represents the first report of malignant catarrhal fever virus (MCFV) infection in free-ranging musk ox outside North America. It aimed to define the epizootiology of malignant catarrhal fever viruses (MCFV) by collecting and examining serum and spleen samples from a free-ranging musk ox (Ovibos moschatos) population in Dovrefjell, Norway. It suggests that MCVF-Muskox is enzootic in the Dovrefjell musk ox population and that calves are infected early in life.
